When I look at this current Laker lineup, two things make me hesitate about this team, the first is Derek Fisher as our point guard, and most importantly, a small foward with some toughness is needed, as we are hurting there. A player like Haslem from Miami could be a great fit for this team. Notice how the Lakers were pretty much embarrassed by the Celtics in last years finals, then Detroit handed them their first loss this year. Both teams have similar styles, and the Lakers cant seem to beat those type of teams.

Basketball is not about looking pretty.
Basketball is not for wimps.
Basketball is not consistently won without fundamentals.
As much as I love watching And-1, that won’t cut it at school. You can’t turn the ball over that much and win. You can’t travel, and you can’t get away with crazy dribbling techniques…And although I love shakin’ a playa’ straight out his shoes, “it don’t win games”.
I am about winning. Basketball is about: going all out, leaving nothing on the court, sweat, blood, fundamentals, and guess what…
Winning!
How To Dominate The Basketball Court
What signifies a win?
…The highest score when you hear the last sound of that buzzer. Ahh, the sweet smell of victory.
Basketball is now, and always will be, won first by solid shooting, team defense, conditioning, getting to the free throw line and making them, staying out of foul trouble, taking shots when you have a good look, ball handling, putting more points on the board than the other team.
Every activity you do on the basketball court should:
1. Help you put more points on the board or
2. Keep the other team from putting more points on the board.
That’s it!
If whatever you’re doing isn’t accomplishing one of those two simple tasks, then you are wasting your time.
Don’t worry…When you do what you’re suppose to do, you’ll be shining already, and you’ll get the opportunity to “show your stuff”. Be patient. You’ll get your recognition because you shut down a baller, or you put points up on the scoreboard.
Basketball Offensive Tips
Get in shape. There’s no easier “bucket” than to wear out your opponent and go right past him/her because they were tired.
Learn to get as close to the basket as you can to take shots. Why? That’s where the “easy money” is made. That’s where you’ll find your highest percentage of shots and where you’ll get fouled, so you can get to the foul line.
Understand this: If the person guarding you is in foul trouble, they only have 3 choices.
1. Foul out
2. Lay back off of you
3. Put someone else in
That’s a coaches nightmare. If you are a real hooper, you’ll realize that means someone is in ‘trouble’. Green light all day baby! Easy buckets.
Learn your offense. That’s the quickest way to get benched…not to knowing what you are suppose to do, or where you are suppose to go.
Become a fundamental superstar. This alone can get you a scholarship to college.
1. Hit your free throws
2. Make your lay-ups
3. Play solid defense
Basketball Defensive Tips
Get in shape. This is the key to great defense. As you can see, this is the first tip in both the defensive and the offensive tips above. It’s the most important thing to do. What good are you to a team, a coach, or yourself if you can’t play hard when you are needed? Is it easier to play defense in the first quarter of a game or the last?
Why? One word…Fatigue. If you really want to frustrate an offensive player, and keep him/her limited or shut out of the game, get in great shape and be wherever they are with your hands up and feet ready to move the whole game long.
Learn to read the court and keep your eyes moving. There’s nothing worse, as a defender, than to get caught “sleepin”. So, stay “awake” in the game, be alert, and learn to see what is developing before, or as, it is developing. This will increase your reaction time and readiness for defending the play.

I’ve just started using my new Adidas basketball shoes (not sure which model), and it seems to get pretty slippery because of the dust in the gym. What are some ways to improve the traction of my basketball shoes playing on hardwood floor.

As the head of a basketball team, or as a member; there are certain extra pieces of putting together a team that are important to remember. The game of basketball is more than preparing for a game or going to shoot some extra hoops. There are also several other approaches that can be used in order to help build the team and allow them to play their best.
The basics of making sure that basketball works for the entire team are to make sure that the right training is done. Most coaches will require that conditioning is done every day in order to keep the team in shape for the game. Because of the high level of physical intensity on the court, it is best that the team knows how to move properly. This includes practicing running on the court, to conditioning the team to shoot, dribble and work as a team both offensively and defensively.
Of course, while conditioning and while one is in a game, injuries are likely to occur. It is not uncommon for one to fall while they are moving or to be pushed over by an opponent. You will want to make sure to remember who has had an injury, check on how well it is healing and to not push or strain the injury during practice or on the court. Taking care of the players is an integral part of playing the game properly.
Basketball isn’t just about the physical needs that need to be met for every game. It is also about having a mental attitude that is dignified when playing the game. When one is playing a game, or practicing, there need to be certain behaviors that are enforced. Respect for other players and the coach, dignity about the rules, and other types of attitudes may not win the game but will help the players to walk away with an understanding of what it takes to feel good after every game.
If you want to make sure that your team is playing the game of basketball properly, you don’t want to stop on giving them the basics of how the game is played. Basketball is a game that calls for action by team members that can work together and understand how to win effectively. If you are coaching a team, you want to make sure that all of the needs of the team are met so they can walk onto the court with the right mindset.

NCAA Basketball 09 promises to be an all-new exciting game for its avid fans. The game has a couple of firsts under its belt, including the fact that EA has chosen to apply the same basketball engine it uses for its NBA game series. Here are a few suggestions on how to maximize on all the good things NCAA Basketball 09 has to offer.
NCAA Division I Coaches
In visuals alone, the presence of Division I coaches make the sidelines more realistic and authentic. Of course, their presence isn’t simply added to provide verisimilitude for the background. These coaches could also help you win the game with the use of the Real-Time Coach Feedback System.
With the CFS, your coach will instruct you through a picture pop-up when you’re playing at an undesirable tempo or you’re not making use of your pre-game strategy. Your coach could also give you some insights regarding your team’s playing style, fatigue, and time and score.
Coaching points of emphasis are also highlighted by the CFS. Thanks to this system, your coach will always be there to give you strategic reminders and help you win the game.
Scouting Reports
The team up between Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook and EA has made the NCAA Basketball 09 amazingly accurate and comprehensive with regard to scouting reports. Besides team overviews, you can also find out the grades as well as the team’s strengths and weaknesses in terms of Intangibles, Front and Back Court, and Depth.
You can then use the reports to modify your pre-game strategies accordingly and increase your chances of winning.
A New and Better Recruiting System for Dynasty Mode
For the recruiting system, you can gain a lot of insight as to the best prospects for the league with ESPN 100 and Parade All-Americans. Pro Stock is also on hand to show you which prospects has the best shots of making it to the NBA.
As for the Dynasty mode in general, there are a couple of new and improved features to enjoy. Roster sharing is perhaps one of the most anticipated of them. You can create a custom roster online, with the option of availing of roster services offered by game-savvy individuals and companies.
Dynasty mode also gives you leave to make use of the daily and season schedules of NCAA Basketball, stat summaries, and box scores for each game you play. Even your coach can be an object of comparison with the annual statistics from the New Coach Module.
All these are just the tip of the iceberg so hang on until NCAA Basketball 09 gets started on November 17, 2008.
